New 2025 Ram 1500 Hurricane Engine: Release Date, Specs & Options

The Ram Hurricane engine is slated for its debut inside the 2025 Ram 1500, and we couldn't be more excited. While there is a loss of HEMI V-8 power, its twin-turbo replacement more than makes up for the change by providing more power and less emissions than the previous V-8 that this truck had available. The redesigned Ram 1500 is set to be a satisfying refinement with the same Pentastar V-6 Ram 1500 owners know and love and two exciting versions of the available Ram Hurricane engine.

2025 Ram 1500 Hurricane Engine Specs & Options

2025 Ram 1500 Hurricane Engine Specs & Options

The Ram Hurricane engine, a 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-six engine, will debut in the Ram truck lineup from within the redesigned Ram 1500, but this isn't the first time that it has powered an exceptional vehicle. You may have seen the Hurricane engine in the Wagoneer SUV lineup. This efficient and powerful engine is an excellent development for the CDJR vehicle family, as it achieves incredible power, smoothness, and performance while offering the lower emissions and higher MPGs of a smaller turbo engine.

The 2025 Ram 1500 engine specs involve two versions of the Hurricane engine: a standard and high-output variant. Availability per trim will be announced closer to its release date.

The standard form of the Ram Hurricane engine will power the Ram 1500 with 420 horsepower and 469 pound-feet of torque, offering a maximum towing capacity of 11,560 pounds1 and a maximum payload capacity of 1,910 pounds.2 For reference, the 2024 Ram 1500 truck's available 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 made 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque.

Exceeding that power, the second Ram Hurricane engine is a high-output variant of the 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-six delivering 540 horsepower and 521 pound-feet of torque. While it provides higher horsepower than the other Hurricane engine, it has a slightly lower maximum towing capacity of 10,740 pounds,1 and a maximum payload capacity of 1,370 pounds.2

Fuel efficiency estimates will be available closer to the Ram 1500 Hurricane release date, which is set to take place by the end of the first quarter of 2024.

2025 Ram 1500 Pentastar Engine Specs

2025 Ram 1500 Pentastar Engine Specs

Alongside the Ram Hurricane engine, the redesigned Ram 1500 will continue to offer the versatile and value-packed 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine. It will continue to have eTorque mild-hybrid capabilities, which will bestow the 2025 Ram 1500 with up to a manufacturer-estimated 24 MPG (Highway).3

Specs like 305 horsepower, 269 pound-feet of torque, a maximum towing capacity of 8,100 pounds,1 and a maximum payload capacity of 2,300 pounds2 will accompany this engine. While less powerful and not as tow-capable, the Pentastar engine exceeds the Ram Hurricane engine for payload capabilities; the winner for fuel efficiency specs will be announced soon.
